Wildfire Season is Not Over: Estes Park Fire Today

Evacuation orders were issued this morning due to a 75 acre wildfire known as the Kruger Rock fire, Estes Valley Emergency Communications Center said. Estes Valley Fire Protection District (EVFPD) said at 7:11 a.m. that crews were responding to a 5 acre fire in the area of Little Valley and Fish Creek near Kruger Rock, on the South side of Estes Park. By mid-morning the fire had grown to 75 acres, closed parts of US36 in both directions, and several evacuation centers were opened. Last year, more than 30,000 acres in Rocky Mountain National Park were consumed by the East Troublesome and Cameron Peak fires. Please continue to be wildfire aware and take steps to protect your family and your homes. Today's dry conditions and high winds call for red flag warnings in the Coal Creek Canyon area. If you are a Crescent Park resident, we encourage you to follow the CPCFPA on Facebook and Instagram, and to visit our website frequently to learn about our efforts to protect the people, properties and pets in our beautiful community.
